Newborn Goodness | Toledo Newborn Photographer

Today I was so blessed to be able to do a session for a momma and her little man, who wasn’t quite 10 days old yet.  I absolutely love every image from his newborn session that was done in my in-home studio area (which is moving on to bigger & better things in Rossford, Ohio!) I’m SO excited about the move (not that the little guy minded the small space for his shoot).  He was an absolute rockstar baby for his time with the camera.  I think his mom will love his portraits as soon as his gallery is done!  Here are a few of my favorites from today!

If you’re expecting your own little bundle and would like to schedule a session with me, please contact me during your second/third trimester to ensure availability with me!  Also, if you’re looking to have pregnancy portraits done, you can have them as a bonus with a paid newborn session as long as it’s scheduled prior to Dec 31st (the session itself can be held anytime between 2014-2015).  If you would love to bless someone you know with a gift card for their own session (or gift one as a baby shower gift) session gift cards can also be purchased.  Contact me today to schedule!

Back On Track | Toledo Newborn & Baby Photographer

This past week has been one that I wouldn’t want to re-live.  If you read my previous post, you found out that we just had a pregnancy loss (our 2nd one in the last 3 years).  Tomorrow makes one week since we lost our baby.  If you’ve ever been through it, I am SO sorry that you had to go through it.  It’s a journey I wouldn’t want anyone to ever have to walk…but even in that, I have found that the best thing I can do in this moment is to just keep walking.  Being a mom makes me happy.  Being a wife makes me happy.  Being a photographer is a special thing that I also love that I feel isn’t even like a job for me.  It’s this special gift that I get to do in order to bless others and make them happy, and I love to just focus on others during my sessions and make them feel as special as they are.  For those who bring in their brand new babies for me to work with, it’s still all about your baby.  Each one is unique, and I love that I get to make pieces of art from their newborn sessions that you’ll enjoy for years.  It’s really something I don’t even deserve to get to do, but I still get to do it anyway.  Thank you for that.  Without each and every one of you who chooses to get a session with me, you’re choosing my art (and I know there are some awesome other photographers you could choose instead of me) and I just want to say how thankful/grateful I am for that.  I wouldn’t be a photographer without all of you.  You allow me to live this dream of mine and chase after it.

With that being said, I’m back to editing and scheduling sessions.  I’m taking no more than 3 sessions a week so I can focus more on making sure everyone gets their edits back in a timely manner since I had to take this last week off.  🙂  For those also sending cards/messages, I also wanted to say thank you for that.  It’s been comforting getting to talk to some of you and really know how much everyone cares, and I appreciate it so much.

God Bless,

Loss | Toledo Newborn Photographer

On my public profiles, I had shared news of excitement that couldn’t be contained.  We were expecting baby number 5! Our 6th pregnancy, as we had a loss in 2012, exactly 9 months before we found out we were expecting our now 14 month old baby boy.  Now we were excited that he was going to be a big brother.  Maybe it would be a girl for all of our boys. Maybe it would just be another boy.  Either way we were too excited to wait and tell people.  Almost a month and a half went by after we posted our announcement before we were shocked with the news that our baby was gone.  There was no longer a heart beat.  All of our hopes and dreams came crashing down in that instant.

Yesterday I miscarried.  I won’t pretend that I understand the why.  I still have faith that this WILL be okay.  God has a plan, and although I don’t know it, and I don’t agree with it, it’s not my choice to make.  God didn’t kill my baby.  My God is a good God.  This is just an effect of the world and sin today.  My baby never knew pain, never knew fear, never knew heart break.  This is a very difficult post to write, but maybe just maybe it will help someone else.  I struggled to know whether to write such a personal post on my photography page, but maybe it’s for you.  If it’s not, then I apologize.  All I know is my baby went from knowing love in the womb to knowing the love of God.  He is better for the baby than I could ever be.  He knew my pain before it happened, and while the pain is deep and unbearable and uncomfortable, God is right there saying I KNOW.  JUST HOLD ON TO ME.  I’ve screamed in anger, and I’ve cried in grief.  God understands it all.

Maybe you’re in my shoes, and you just need someone to tell you it’s going to be okay.  IT IS GOING TO BE OK.  Nothing will ever replace your baby, or the love you have for your little one.  All I want you to know is I’m praying.  I’m praying you’ll begin to feel the kind of comfort in this moment that I’m feeling, and I’m praying that people would love on you the way they have for me.  For those who are carrying and expecting their little ones, cherish it, and everything that comes with it.  I wish you luck on the journey ahead, and hopefully I’ll get to photograph your newborn that you’ve waited so patiently for.  <3

With Love,

While I’ve had a lot of sessions I haven’t had a chance to blog about yet (it seems like I edit non-stop at the moment!) I had to take a quick moment to post some of my favorite images that were done today during a newborn shoot, with not one, but with TWO amazing baby boys.  They came into this world early, and were a month old by the time they were able to come see me to have their portraits done, but they did wonderfully.  Normally, my window for newborns is between their 5th-10th day of life, but things happen, and sometimes babies come early.  For those that do, we can accommodate their sessions and get them in as soon as they’re able to come.  These were definitely some much anticipated miracle boys for their parents.

Here is the first image that I edited and fell in love with of the boys.  They’ve got brotherly love, right from the start.

The next image took a bit of patience to get, but once we got both boys nicely snug in their basket, they were out.  (Please note, this is a composite image for each baby’s safety)

I can only imagine the tricks they’ll be pulling in a few years on mom and dad (especially trying to switch who is who) but I’m sure they’ll be a ton of fun.

If you’d like to purchase a newborn session with me, please contact me at to set up your session.  Space is becoming extremely limited for the rest of October already, and I’m also booking into November, December, and January.  Let me know if you’d like to secure your spot!

Toledo Baby Photographer | Older “newborn” session

I recently needed some props modeled, and had a woman recommend her beautiful one month old daughter for the session.  I hadn’t really worked with the non-typical newborns who were over ten days old in quite a while, so I decided to give it a try again.  I must say I absolutely love the images we came up with for her.  While trying to get sleepy curled up poses was a little harder than the average newborn, I think she still did pretty well.  Here are a few of my favorite images from her session.

By the way, most of the props are from the shop Fiber & Twine (the white bonnet and light blanket is not).  You can view her etsy site here.  I’m an absolute fan of her work, and can’t wait to order some new things from her soon. 🙂
