Mom Talk – Lets Talk Stains | JOY Photography Toledo

As a mom with four boys, to say that they’ve made some incredible messes would be an understatement.  A big big understatement…and that had resulted in carpet stains, that for the life of me, I could not get up.  I had purchased high-end cleaning solutions, and lucky me, those stains were STILL there.  I was annoyed, and thought that those stains would just remain until we moved, or until we hired a professional carpet cleaner (which yes, I’m thrifty, and I prefer to DIY when it comes to cleaning things…) so, that obviously wasn’t happening.

Insert the online love of my life: youtube.

Thank you to Youtube.  I found that a mixture of hot water and vinegar on a stain, lightly scrubbed, will remove it.  If you have a hot iron and a towel to use on top of it to draw out the stain even more, then that’s even better.  I did both.  I’m happy to report my stains are GONE.  Such a cheap solution to such a big problem for so many moms.  I know, I could share my lovely mixture with some drops of essential oils, and probably make a fortune…but with such a cheap fix to such a huge problem, I had to share it with you all instead.  If it works for you, I’d love to hear about it! 🙂  I might even have to try this for the next time a blanket gets a bad mess on it from my lovely babies that I photograph.  I may be convinced that vinegar works on everything now.

Oh, and of course, if you’re looking for a photographer, I’d love to work with you.  I’m even doing a special through Memorial Day Weekend, for the first five people to schedule & pay their deposits.  For those who do, you’ll get a 16×20 canvas from your session as a complimentary gift from me.  Pretty awesome right?!  Especially if you love having your babies and families on your walls as beautiful art.

Twins! Twin Girl Newborn Baby Session | JOY Photography OH/MI

Twins. There is something about the bond of twins that is so indescribable.  Knowing that these little ones have grown next to each other, and in doing so, have created a bond that regular siblings just don’t have.  I find it amazing how many times during sessions, just having the other twin there will immediately make both of them much calmer than they were before.  That was mostly the case with today’s twin session.  These girls came early (at 34 weeks) and we did their session today, which would have been their 36 week mark.  So, of course, they were tiny, and adorable, and seemed SO much more fragile than other twins I’ve worked with, but after a lot of soothing the girls (and having mom and dad feeding, burping, and taking diapers on and off) we were able to take some amazing portraits of them.

Since the sneak is posted on Facebook, I thought I would share it here as well, since I have quite a few readers of this part of my site.  So, here they are everyone!  Meet the newest set of twins!

Aren’t they adorable?!

If you’d like to schedule your own session with me, please contact me either here, on my website, or through my email address.  joyphotography@live.com.  Having multiples?  I’m still seeking a boy-boy pair, and girl-boy pair of twins for a discounted session.

Oh, and don’t forget to follow my Facebook page!  Awesome stuff is going on there too!

Things to do with kids in Toledo | JOY Photography Ohio

Whether you’re from the area or not, having a baby means getting out and doing some fun things (once they’re at least a few months old) because in those first few months, aside from the newborn session and doctors visits, we all know the real thing moms want.  Sleep.  and maybe a shower, uninterrupted.  But once the lack of sleep doesn’t feel quite so draining, it feels pretty fantastic to get out and start making some memories as a family.  I was looking online (actually for my own boys) to see what we could do, and I found a list of fifty things at various places around Toledo.  You can go and see the list here.  Especially for those of us who have older kids as well, some of these would be a lot of fun.  We actually already go to the Zoo here quite often (and the new aquarium is AMAZING).  The Imagination Station is also pretty fun  (we just went for our first time a few months ago even though we’ve lived here for quite a while).  Of course, there are others on the list that we’ve never done, so we’re looking forward to exploring our city a bit more and having fun with it all.

If you’d like an even bigger list that has things in (and around) the Toledo area, a friend of mine sent me this one as well.  Some of the things are repeated from the first list, but contains 101 Places to go.  🙂  Enjoy!  That list is available for you here.

It’s a Baby Expo- In Ann Arbor! | Michigan newborn baby photographer

Hey Ann Arbor!  I’ve gotten used to doing expo’s with Babies R Us here in Toledo, and now I’ve been given an opportunity to branch out to meet my Ann Arbor fans!  I’ll be at the Babies R Us there on May 18th from 10am-1pm.  If you’d like to see some of my work, hold some examples in your hands, and talk about sessions, I’ll be there ready to talk.  I’m so excited for this opportunity, and can’t wait to meet everyone that day.  If you’d like to even stop in and say hey, I’d love to meet you! 🙂

4 month old baby girl | Toledo, Ann Arbor Baby Photographer

This baby girl came in for a session around 4 months old, from out of town, along with her mom and dad, her big brother, and her big sister.  Of course, she ended up having the cutest hair I’ve probably ever seen on a baby, and cheeks that were to die for.  I’m not kidding when I say that I get the cutest (or most handsome) babies to photograph.  The all end up being adorable, and absolutely stunning, and it’s such a blessing getting to photograph them and make beautiful portraits that their parents can cherish…but enough about that, you’re probably like, WHERE IS THE BABY?!  Well…here she is!  Try not to let the cuteness get to you too much.
