Ava is the beautiful baby girl of a friend of mine, and she signed up for the baby plan (which included newborn portraits) so you’ll get to see a short progression of how she’s grown since she just came in for her 6 month portraits with me. I had set some props aside and already discussed some that mom brought with her as well for the shoot, which we incorporated. One thing she was very excited to use was my rag banner which was purchased from a company called Modern Rags and Quilts. I loved how it allowed us to incorporate a vintage feel to Ava’s 6 month portraits. For these, I also keep my studio space warm, but not really overly warm the way I tend to do with newborn sessions. One thing that really helps for sessions from 6-12 months is having favorite videos or Face time with someone who really can get them laughing. Babies can take a while to warm up to having their portraits taken, but a funny video they’re used to or someone who is a guaranteed funny person they know can really help to break the ice. 🙂
For Ava’s session, the only person who could get her laughing was her dad, so we used Face Time for that, and it worked like a charm. Sometimes the babies just HAVE to have that favorite person to really get that genuine smile (although me going crazy sometimes works too). With that being said, here are some of the progressions of little miss Ava, from newborn to 6 months.
Sessions are done in my in-home studio here in Toledo, but I’ve had people come from Findlay, Bowling Green, Perrysburg, Swanton, and other areas around Toledo for their sessions. As long as you can make it here, then I can do portraits for you that you’ll have for years to come!
